repurposed plywood, found mirror, laser engraving

Since my grandmother’s death, I catch of her features in the mirror—the shape and color of the eyes, the smile, the cheekbones.

Genetics is the only thing that remains when names are erased, possessions have crumbled to dust, and homes have been destroyed.

It is what has been within us since the dawn of time, destined to be passed down and mingled until life itself comes to an end.

I am creating a "meditation on loss" using photographs of my grandparents. In place of faces, eyes, and lips - mirrors.

I invite the viewer to reflect on the infinite cycle of life within these reflections, on the ongoing dialogue with the deceased through personal traits, and on a future that a hundred years from now might be seen through eyes the same color as yours.
